Chapter 66: Free time for worship, concern for Hereafter
Al-Mundhiri records in his book al-Targhib wal-Tarhib:
Encouragement to use free time for worship and turning to Allah Almighty, and discouragement from being concerned with the world and being consumed by it.

Ma’qil ibn Yasar reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
Your Lord Almighty said: Son of Adam, be free for My worship. I will fill your heart with richness and fill your hands with provision. Son of Adam, do not distance yourself from Me, or else I will fill your heart with poverty and fill your hands with worthless distractions.

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
Allah Almighty said: O son of Adam, be free for My worship and I will fill your heart with riches and alleviate your poverty. If you do not do so, I will fill your hands with problems and never alleviate your poverty.

Abu Darda reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
The sun never rises but that two angels are sent at its sides, calling out. They are heard by all the inhabitants of the earth except humans and jinn: O people, come quickly to your Lord! What is little and sufficient is better than what is abundant and negligent! The sun never sets but that two angels are sent at its sides, calling out. They are heard by all the inhabitants of the earth except humans and jinn: O Allah, repay one who spends in charity! O Allah, give destruction to one who withholds charity!

Zayd ibn Thabit reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
Whoever is concerned about the world, Allah will disorder his affairs, make poverty appear before his eyes, he will not get anything from the world but what has been decreed for him. Whoever is concerned about the Hereafter, Allah will settle his affairs, make him content in his heart, the world will come to him although he reluctant is for it.

Anas ibn Malik reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
Whoever is concerned about the Hereafter, Allah will place richness in his heart, bring his affairs together, and the world will come to him although he is reluctant for it. Whoever is concerned about the world, Allah will place poverty between his eyes, disorder his affairs, and he will get nothing of the world but what is decreed for him.

Abdullah ibn Mas’ud reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
Whoever focuses on only one concern, the afterlife, Allah will be enough for his concerns in the world. Whoever scatters his concerns among the matters of the world, it does not matter to Allah in which valley he meets his demise.

Ibn Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
Whoever makes his concerns only one concern, the Hereafter, Allah will be enough for his concerns in the world. Whoever scatters his concerns, it does not matter to Allah in which valley of the world he meets his demise.
