Chapter 157: What was narrated concerning the recitation in the ‘Eid Prayers
باب مَا جَاءَ فِي الْقِرَاءَةِ فِي صَلاَةِ الْعِيدَيْنِ
Sunan Ibn Majah 1282
It was narrated that ‘Ubaidullah bin ‘Abdullah said
“Umar went out on the day of ‘Eid and sent word to Abu Waqid Al-Laithi asking what the Prophet (ﷺ) used to recite on this day. He said: ‘Qaf [Qaf (50)] and ‘Iqtarabat’.” [Al-Qamar (54)]حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ، أَنْبَأَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ ضَمْرَةَ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ خَرَجَ عُمَرُ يَوْمَ عِيدٍ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَى أَبِي وَاقِدٍ اللَّيْثِيِّ بِأَىِّ شَىْءٍ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ يَقْرَأُ فِي مِثْلِ هَذَا الْيَوْمِ؟ قَالَ بِـ {ق} وَاقْتَرَبَتْ .
