Chapter 2: Prohibition of making an oath by other than Allah
باب النَّهْىِ أَنْ يَحْلِفَ بِغَيْرِ اللَّهِ
Sunan Ibn Majah 2095
It was narrated from 'Abdur-Rahman bin Samurah that
the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Do not take oaths by idols nor by your forefathers. "حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الأَعْلَى، عَنْ هِشَامٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ " لاَ تَحْلِفُوا بِالطَّوَاغِي وَلاَ بِآبَائِكُمْ " .
