Chapter 35: A man and woman taking bath from a single vessel
باب الرَّجُلِ وَالْمَرْأَةِ يَغْتَسِلاَنِ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ
Sunan Ibn Majah 377
It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that his maternal aunt Maimunah said
"The Messager of Allah and I used to take bath from a single vessel."حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ خَالَتِهِ، مَيْمُونَةَ قَالَتْ كُنْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ، ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ .
Chapter 46: Extinguishing the fire when going to sleep
باب إِطْفَاءِ النَّارِ عِنْدَ الْمَبِيتِ
Sunan Ibn Majah 3770
It was narrated that Abu Musa said
"A house burned down in Al-Madinah, with its occupants inside. The Prophet(ﷺ) was told of what had happened, and he said: 'This fire is an enemy to you. When you go to sleep, extinguish it.'"حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ بُرَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى، قَالَ احْتَرَقَ بَيْتٌ بِالْمَدِينَةِ عَلَى أَهْلِهِ فَحُدِّثَ النَّبِيُّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ بِشَأْنِهِمْ فَقَالَ " إِنَّمَا هَذِهِ النَّارُ عَدُوٌّ لَكُمْ فَإِذَا نِمْتُمْ فَأَطْفِئُوهَا عَنْكُمْ " .
Sunan Ibn Majah 3771
It was narrated that Jabir said
"The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) commanded us (to do some things) and forbade us (to do some things), and he commanded us to extinguish our lamps."حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قَالَ أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ وَنَهَانَا فَأَمَرَنَا أَنْ نُطْفِئَ سِرَاجَنَا .
Chapter 47: Prohibition of camping in the road
باب النَّهْىِ عَنِ النُّزُولِ، عَلَى الطَّرِيقِ
Sunan Ibn Majah 3772
It was narrated from Jabir that the Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) said
"Do not camp on the middle of the road, or relieve yourselves there."حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَنْبَأَنَا هِشَامٌ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ " لاَ تَنْزِلُوا عَلَى جَوَادِّ الطَّرِيقِ وَلاَ تَقْضُوا عَلَيْهَا الْحَاجَاتِ " .
Chapter 48: Three people riding on one animal
باب رُكُوبِ ثَلاَثَةٍ عَلَى دَابَّةٍ
Sunan Ibn Majah 3773
Abdullah bin Ja'far said
"Whenever the Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) came back from a journey, he would be met by us(children). (One day) he was met by me and Hasan or Husain. He made one of us ride in front of him and the other behind him, until we came to Al-Madinah."حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُوَرِّقٌ الْعِجْلِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ إِذَا قَدِمَ مِنْ سَفَرٍ تُلُقِّيَ بِنَا . قَالَ فَتُلُقِّيَ بِي وَبِالْحَسَنِ أَوْ بِالْحُسَيْنِ . قَالَ فَحَمَلَ أَحَدَنَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَالآخَرَ خَلْفَهُ حَتَّى قَدِمْنَا الْمَدِينَةَ " .
Chapter 49: Putting dust on writings
باب تَتْرِيبِ الْكِتَابِ
Sunan Ibn Majah 3774
It was narrated from Jabir that the Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) said
"Put dust on your writings, because it is better, and dust is blessed (being humble in correspondence brings good results)."حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَنْبَأَنَا بَقِيَّةُ، أَنْبَأَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ قَالَ " تَرِّبُوا صُحُفَكُمْ أَنْجَحُ لَهَا إِنَّ التُّرَابَ مُبَارَكٌ " .
Chapter 50: Two should not converse to the exclusion of a third
باب لاَ يَتَنَاجَى اثْنَانِ دُونَ الثَّالِثِ
Sunan Ibn Majah 3775
It was narrated from Abdullah that the Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) said
"When you are three, two should not converse (privately) to the exclusion of their companion, because that makes him sad."حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، وَوَكِيعٌ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ شَقِيقٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ " إِذَا كُنْتُمْ ثَلاَثَةً فَلاَ يَتَنَاجَى اثْنَانِ دُونَ صَاحِبِهِمَا فَإِنَّ ذَلِكَ يُحْزِنُهُ " .
Sunan Ibn Majah 3776
It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said
"The Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) forbade two to converse (privately) to the exclusion of a third."حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ أَنْ يَتَنَاجَى اثْنَانِ دُونَ الثَّالِثِ .
Chapter 51: A person who has arrows should carry them by their heads
باب مَنْ كَانَ مَعَهُ سِهَامٌ فَلْيَأْخُذْ بِنِصَالِهَا
Sunan Ibn Majah 3777
Jabir bin 'Abdullah said
"A man passed through the masjid with some arrows, and the Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) said: 'Hold them by their heads!' He said: 'Yes(ok).'"حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفَيْانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، قَالَ قُلْتُ لِعَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ سَمِعْتَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، يَقُولُ مَرَّ رَجُلٌ بِسِهَامٍ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ " أَمْسِكْ بِنِصَالِهَا " . قَالَ نَعَمْ .
Sunan Ibn Majah 3778
It was narrated from Abu Musa that the Prophet(ﷺ) said
"When anyone of you passes through our masjid or our marketplace carrying arrows, let him hold them by their heads, lest he hurt any Muslims."حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلاَنَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ بُرَيْدٍ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ قَالَ " إِذَا مَرَّ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي مَسْجِدِنَا أَوْ فِي سُوقِنَا وَمَعَهُ نَبْلٌ فَلْيُمْسِكْ عَلَى نِصَالِهَا بِكَفِّهِ أَنْ تُصِيبَ أَحَدًا مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ بِشَىْءٍ أَوْ فَلْيَقْبِضْ عَلَى نِصَالِهَا " .
Chapter 52: The rewards associated with the Quran
باب ثَوَابِ الْقُرْآنِ
Sunan Ibn Majah 3779
It was narrated from Aisha that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said
"The one who is proficient with the Qur'an will be with the noble and righteous scribes (the angels), and the one who reads it and stumbles over it, finding it difficult, will have two rewards."حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ زُرَارَةَ بْنِ أَوْفَى، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ " الْمَاهِرُ بِالْقُرْآنِ مَعَ السَّفَرَةِ الْكِرَامِ الْبَرَرَةِ وَالَّذِي يَقْرَؤُهُ يَتَتَعْتَعُ فِيهِ وَهُوَ عَلَيْهِ شَاقٌّ لَهُ أَجْرَانِ اثْنَانِ " .
